Heritage Consultant

Aron has worked extensively in both commercial heritage and academia. He is an experienced writer, researcher, editor and communicator across a range of fields, and has specialist knowledge in history, heritage, politics and urban planning.

Prior to joining Context Aron worked as a consultant for Lorraine Huddle Pty Ltd. During that time he wrote and reviewed numerous thematic environmental histories, and was involved in writing social histories and individual place and precinct histories for Local Government studies. Aron has also prepared several commissioned histories, including for the Purrumbete Homestead, Ulupna House Cheltenham and the Old Echuca Brothel.

Aron’s academic background includes teaching Australian Studies, History and Politics at La Trobe University. He also taught Public Policy at La Trobe Mildura campus and Australian Studies courses at East China Normal University, Shanghai. Aron has worked as a research assistant on the ARC funded Argus Indexing Project (2004-5), and has been an editor for Ormond Papers in 1997-8 and the Australian Journal of Peace Studies in 2008-9.

Aron has presented and published papers at national and international conferences, on topics ranging from British Imperial history to contemporary community activism and politics. He has written regularly for ABC’s The Drum and independent media site New Matilda on politics and sustainability.
