Jenny Walker
Consultant
Jenny has demonstrated skills in qualitative research methods, community consultation, data analysis, use of the HERMES database system and the assessment of significance within a framework of heritage resource management.
Prior to joining Context, Jenny worked as a Project Assistant for the Department of Sustainability and Environment. In this role she designed and implemented a catalogue of documentary resources and digital image collections concerning historic places under public ownership. She also updated and maintained a variety of Historic Places inventories using a variety of resources including Heritage Victoria’s online HERMES database. Additional professional involvement in the heritage field includes a continuing role at the Schwerkolt Cottage and Museum in Mitcham.
Her previous studies included heritage tourism development at Vieng Xay, Laos, in partnership with the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV), and Jenny’s conservation experience also includes the documented deconstruction of 1853 house, Williamstown, in which she assisted with physical condition survey and structural recording, and training in the preservation of paper records.
Since joining Context in 2009, Jenny has brought her knowledge and outstanding communication skills to bear in providing project support to members of the Context team. She has developed her skills in the documentation and assessment of heritage places and gained valuable additional experience of historic research. She has a strong working knowledge of the HERMES database, as illustrated in her involvement with Context’s extensive Regional Water Supply Heritage Study on behalf of Melbourne Water. Jenny has received extensive training in the use of the system and participates in forums with Heritage Victoria to discuss its development.
