Community and Environmental Consultant

Michelle Ralph has nine years experience in community consultation, strategic planning and heritage work. Michelle specialises in community information with experience in community engagement strategies and plans, as well as the management and implementation of community relations programs.

Prior to joining Context she completed Deakin University’s Environmental Management degree in 1998. Her major areas of study were catchment management, protected area management and environmental policy and planning.

Since joining Context in 1998 Michelle has worked on a range of projects from heritage surveys and assessments, conservation management plans, strategic planning and community relations programs. Michelle’s contributions in this latter area have provided her with a strong track record in community information and consultation. Her more recent projects have included community consultation for the Knox Liveable Streetscape Strategy (2009 – current) and community relations for the replacement of a Melbourne Water water main in Essendon (2009). Other projects include the Montrose Quarry Sustainability Plan (2009), Barwon Water Resources Development Plan (2003), Boroondara Biodiversity Strategy (2003), the Yarra Ranges Heritage Study (2000) and the Merri Creek Signage Project (2000).

Michelle took maternity leave in 2004 to have the first of her three children. Since then she has worked on a part-time basis for Context, continuing her work and training in community based consultation projects. Michelle also has a strong interest and developing expertise in the field of environmental education. She has worked in a voluntary capacity supporting the local Waterwatch coordinator in conducting activities with primary school children and friends groups.
