Natica Schmeder
Senior Heritage Consultant
Natica specialises in built heritage and brings to her role experience in architectural history, materials conservation and historical research. Natica has a demonstrated record in effective project management and the preparation of complex heritage reports and assessments. She pairs a systematic and detail oriented approach with an exceptional knowledge of late 19th century architecture.
Prior to joining Context Natica worked in America as an architectural historian with local government and federal agencies as well as in private practice performing architectural and materials assessment. Since her arrival in Melbourne, Natica has expanded her knowledge to Australian architectural history and building analysis, taking courses at the University of Melbourne. She has also carried out historical and materials research for the National Trust of Australia (Victoria).
Since joining Context in 2005, Natica has worked on a variety of advisory and heritage projects including the Manningham Heritage Study Review (2005), the Glenferrie Oval and Grace Park Heritage Assessment (2007) for Boroondara and is currently engaged in large scale heritage studies for both Murrindindi and Cardinia Shires (2008). Natica provides ongoing advice to the City of Casey, in matters concerning their built environment.
Natica is particularly interested in 19th and early 20th century architecture (her undergraduate thesis was on the use of glazed architectural terracotta), physical analysis of buildings and community involvement in heritage.
