Assessing heritage impacts

Building on sound assessment of heritage significance and a growing appreciation for the requirements of large scale engineering projects, our archaeologists – lead by Ian Travers – have been developing effective mitigation programmes to ensure appropriate management of heritage fabric whilst minimising disruption to project timetables.

Recent projects have included monitoring and dismantling works, under Heritage Victoria permits, to facilitate infrastructure upgrades at Toorourrong Reservoir and Dights Falls weir, both working in close liaison with heritage architects and project engineers.

Context has a strong capability in the assessment of heritage impacts arising from a variety of development works, and those relating to water supply in particular.
