Sustainable buildings

Our commitment to sustainability runs deep at Context. As well as in our project work and in how we run the business, each and every person in the Context team is personally committed to finding sustainable solutions.

Louise, who has won awards for her sustainable architectural design work, is now a resident at Westwyck, one of Melbourne’s most innovative sustainable developments. Westwyck demonstrates an extraordinary range of sustainability features, all achieved within an inner heritage city site. Westwyck (www.westwyck.com) combines the best in contemporary design with on-site water and sewerage recycling, solar power-generation, vegie gardens, and a real sense of community.

Lydia is a keen advocate for community gardens with their potential to improve the lives of people at the local level. She is an active member of the East Brunswick based Merri Corner Community Garden Group, a group of passionate volunteers who value the idea of producing good food locally.

Chris has just built a small and perfectly green studio near Newstead. Designed by local architects Richard and Michelle Black, it is simple and sustainable. Named the ‘gorgeous shed’ it’s sure to turn up in a number of green design guides during 2009.
