Biodiversity Action Planning Workshops
Client: Department of Sustainability
Context ran three workshops for the Department of Sustainability and Environment to introduce the biodiversity action planning process to local government, agencies and peak community groups who have an interest in protecting, enhancing and restoring their local biodiversity.
It was important to obtain community input and knowledge on biodiversity assets and to provide recommendations on how to better protect, enhance or restore biodiversity.
Conserving biodiversity is fundamental to our quality of life and our economic well-being, but many life forms are under threat. Biodiversity Action Planning identifies where the most significant biodiversity assets are within a bioregion, and aims to focus conservation actions on the maintenance and restoration of ecosystems at these sites. In this way, the best ‘return on investment’ in native biodiversity should be achieved.
