Inspirational Landscapes

Client: Australian Heritage Commission (now Australian Heritage Council)

Inspirational landscapes involved the development of a new methodology for the assessment of landscapes of national significance for the National Heritage List.

The project method was innovative, seeking to encourage active participation from the many disciplines that could contribute to understanding the concept of ‘inspirational landscapes’. The project included an initial issues paper, and ‘perspectives essays’ from noted national artists, writers and activists to help inspire discussion at a 2-day, on-line conference. The assessment method was developed and tested on a series of landscapes across Australia through an ‘experts’ workshop, before being finalised.
