Tumbukka and Binjirru Regional Plans

Timbukka_project

Client: ATSIS

Context played a key role in developing plans for the Tumbukka and the Binjirru Regional Councils which, following the abolition of ATSIC (Aboriginal and Torres Straits Island Commission) in 2004, faced new challenges in applying for funding.

Context organised widespread consultation with Indigenous people in Victoria to gain an understanding of their needs and priorities and gathered input from government agencies and organisations concerned with Indigenous welfare. Following the consultation process, Context produced regional plans identifying priority areas for funding. These drew on previous work carried out by the Councils and included health and family well-being, economic participation, the environment and cultural heritage, education and housing.
